And plastic is bad for the environment for what reason? That the plastic will sit in a landfill for long periods of time before it disintegrates, but so will a rock. Why should we care in either case? The other irony is that 20 years ago environmentalists were upset about people using paper bags. Of course, using more paper bags increases the demand for paper and thus encourages more trees to be planted. Arresting the man for throwing out a rind is bizarre.
